Helloooooo internet. Happy to say that I’ve got a bunch of shows coming up next weekend. Looking forward to doing some North American dates again! Started thinking I was relegated to Europe forever. I’m also finishing some new records, so more news on that very soon.

I’m very proud to be a part of this compilation with a some of my favorite producers from around the way in Kevin McPhee, Gingy and Bruce Trail. A huge thank you to Martyn and Erosie for putting this out into the world. It’s an honor to join this already legendary record label. Here’s a description by the man himself.

Over the last year I’ve traveled to Canada frequently for gigs and got to know the small but healthy electronic music scene there. Cities like Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto have brought forth many established artists over the past few years, such as Egyptrixx, Azari & III, Basic Soul Unit, Jacques Greene, Lunice and Sixtoo, but 2012 has seen a new breed of no-nonsense house and techno producers come up via labels like Turbo Recordings and Naked Lunch.
This “Dovercourt EP” features four very talented producers: Kevin McPhee, Nautiluss, Gingy and fresh face Bruce Trail. Their tracks are a dedication to their hometown of Toronto. Being removed from the house/techno epicentres of Berlin and London, these four are much less interested in what’s fashionable or trendy, and more in bringing us straight to the point, no frails jacking house music. I’ve been playing these four extensively in my DJ sets, and I hope you will too. So out to Toronto, this one’s for you! Enjoy. -Martyn

Wow. Believe me when I say that I really didn’t see any of these coming. The sheer amount of good music that comes out in one year is so overwhelming to me that to be considered at years end by anyone for anything is truly something I ever could have imagined. Many of the artists/releases I am listed with are favorites of mine and so I’m honored. Anyways, enough with my oscar speech.

On XLR8R, I made Best New Artists at #6, I made the Best Releases list with my Habitat EP at #14 (between Andy Stott and Daphni no less) and Depth Charge made #34 on the Best Tracks list.

On Earmilk, two of my songs made their Best Dance Tracks list.

Daniel Avery is killing it. His last two EPs are some of my favorite releases of 2012. And so it was with great pleasure to find out that he chose to put one of my songs on his mix, namely Troubleman. I haven’t gotten a copy of this yet but I’m very excited to hear how it turned out.

Avery is very much a dark horse of London’s club scene. Aside from being a fabric resident, he’s gotten props from Andrew Weatherall and been brought into the fold of Phantasy Sound, Erol Alkan’s label. Meanwhile, his productions under his own name have been getting more and more attention.

Fabriclive 66 shows the range of Avery’s style. “I love weird records; that original, lawless spirit of acid house where the music is pulsing but will also throw in some mind-bending, psychedelic elements to knock you sideways and make you lose yourself within it,” Avery says. “This mix is my take on that idea.”
